Back to school
Rachie1986 · 18/02/2018 07:56
So half terms over here and back to work tomorrow. How's everyone feeling about it?
C0untDucku1a · 18/02/2018 07:57
Great. I worked last week. Halfterm starts now
Namechange16 · 18/02/2018 07:57
Great, my week has just started, then a five week half term!
NovemberWitch · 18/02/2018 07:58
Is 86 the year you were born? I’d been teaching 2 years by then! How do I feel? Old!
PotteringAlong · 18/02/2018 07:59
I haven’t done any of my marking and it’s staring reproachfully at me...
Flipflopflipflap · 18/02/2018 08:01
pottering I too have about 40% of my marking to do and my weeks planning 😂
I should’ve done it last weekend.
PumpkinPie2016 · 18/02/2018 08:06
I'm also back tomorrow - been quite good and done most work. Will finish off today.
I like my school but I am actually feeling weirdly stressed about going back - think it's the start of the run up to exams that's doing it.
Hopefully, I'll be fine once I get in tomorrow!
Rachie1986 · 18/02/2018 08:07
I know some schools have just started half term, I commented that half term was over here..
Yep I was born in 86. Sorry if that makes your feel old! I've been teaching nearly 10years too if that makes it worse!!!! ;-)
I have stuff I haven't done (though I plan a couple of weeks ahead so its more marking stuff).. currently pretending it's not back to work tomorrow!
MaisyPops · 18/02/2018 11:08
Surprisingly chilled out
I've been marking for the last couple of days (and getting distracted watching the Olympics) but I'm really looking forward to seeing my Y7s. They're going to be so proud of how they've done. So cheesy but true.
Less looking forward to 'y11 - what's happening' and the inevitable requests for data every 5 seconds from eleventy million differenr people.
awkwardsitch · 18/02/2018 11:08
Back tomorrow. I always get weirdly nervous going back. I only work three days though so the weekend starts 3.30 Wednesday
BettyBettyBetty · 18/02/2018 11:11
I like my job but I wish I wasn't going back. Half terms make me wish I was a SAHM!
Garmadonsmum · 18/02/2018 11:12
I have been sick for the whole of half term. Still feel awful and seriously aggrieved!
fairgame84 · 18/02/2018 11:17
Dreading it. Our HT has been a prize twat since September and we are all walking on eggshells. Y5+6 staff can do no wrong but the rest of us can do no right, including non teaching staff which I am.
I'm seriously considering leaving. My son is disabled and I would be no worse off financially by not working. I used to love work now I hate going.
Sorry to put a downer on everyone.
CuckooCuckooClock · 18/02/2018 14:25
Have also been ill over half term so haven't even started marking yet.
I want to cry looking at it all.
Hoping dc will sit in front of a film this aft so I can get started and won't be up until midnight doing it.
samlovesdilys · 18/02/2018 15:04
I'm with Garmadon, sick all week, just beginning to feel better and back to it tomorrow 😢 No work done either. Pretty miserable. Roll on Easter!
Garmadonsmum · 18/02/2018 15:10
I don’t work in the holidays though, so has just been my own time I’ve wasted. Would love to be off sick it will be hard going in tomorrow (hard enough when you feel well!)
to other sufferers.
PurpleDaisies · 18/02/2018 15:13
A week isn’t long enough. Had a really busy time sorting stuff out and now I need another week off.
Rachie1986 · 18/02/2018 21:11
Hope it goes well for everyone back tomorrow!
And for those who've been ill, very rough for the holidays!
chubbymummy · 19/02/2018 01:02
Urgh. Wide awake and clock watching. I have to get up in 5 hours 17 minutes and know sleep will be elusive tonight.
I've got the dreaded back to work blues. I love my job and I love the kids but I hate the unnecessary paperwork and data that the head loves so much (had an email today asking for even more pointless and time consuming crap). I also have the laziest TA ever who has no initiative and is impossible to motivate. She has a different ailment every single sodding day and every time I ask her to do something she huffs and puffs then says she's 'nipping to the loo' first (she's clearly fucking constipated the amount of time it takes her to return!).
Every week I decide I'm going to chill out and not let her get to me, but by 9.15am I'm seething inside! I can't even complain to the head because there are family links between them and the head thinks she's 'a wonderful young lady'.
PumpkinPie2016 · 19/02/2018 05:54
Well, I'm up and getting ready.
Slept really badly - not helped by DH's snoring
Mostly though, I was clock watching and thinking about what I need to do
Like a lot of us, I love my job but it is so stressful at times!
Hopefully, I will be back into the swing by break today
Rachie1986 · 19/02/2018 18:02
I thought it was just me that didn't sleep well the day before the start of term!
Hope everyone's first day back went ok?
BlessYourCottonSocks · 19/02/2018 22:04
Good first day back thanks. But I love my job. I still never sleep the night before, even after all these years.
I have ridiculous thoughts, such as 'I've forgotten how to teach...' 'I don't think I can do this anymore....' 'Someone will tell me I'm doing it wrong....'
Goodness knows why - but it's been happening for 25 years or more now! In the daylight I do remember that I can teach.
Rachie1986 · 19/02/2018 22:14
Ah the old "I've forgotten how to teach". How I feel after every single holiday, without fail!
WombatStewForTea · 20/02/2018 06:41
We went back yesterday and promptly had the call! Can't wait for today to be over!
C0untDucku1a · 20/02/2018 07:40
Oh wombat my mil is a governor and had the call yesterday too.
MaisyPops · 20/02/2018 07:46
Who gives the call on the first day back?!
Saying that my friend's school got the call the penultimate week before Christmas.
