Stick with new job - or move on ASAP?

I moved jobs in September. Same role (HOD core subject), different school. I love my immediate team but am not at all sold on the school. In fact, most of the time I spend my time silently screaming at how bloody awful it is. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about whether I should move ASAP and put it down as an error of judgement or if I need to stick it out for a few more months?
Thank you Flowers

I'd do a full year so you've at least got that on your CV; it'll give you plenty to talk about at interview too when they ask why you're leaving.

Good luck. I left a school in Feb half term that I started in the previous Sep because I absolutely hated it and to be honest it didn't look that great when I was looking for a new role.

Thank you.

I’m just wondering if I’m better looking now and being really frank that it wasn’t the place for me. I’ve done over five years in both previous schools so it will be obvious I’m usually reliable iyswim?

(Plus I have great data from last year that I could still refer to!)

I'd look now, a lot of jobs advertised are for a September start so you'd be missing out on them if you waited till later. If something comes up with an earlier start, I'd be cautious. Just like you want to quit your job mid-year because it's crap, the person vacanting the job you are looking at may have had a similar experience.

Good point @noble. The job I’m looking at right now is a newly created role so hopefully ok, but I’ll definitely keep eyes wide open re earlier start dates.

If I got a job for September I’d be tempted to leave at Easter anyway.

Can you leave at Easter? Hasn't the deadline passed?

awkwardsitch · 18/02/2018 14:10

I left at Feb half term one year after starting in the September because I hated it. I started at a new school immediately after the half term break.

If it's that bad, and you know you've put your all into trying to like it, and you really don't think you are going to, then get looking for jobs for September.

Resignation date for Easter finish is 28th February, although check your contract - some schools (especially independents) may be different.

IsTheGrassAlwaysGreener · 18/02/2018 15:33

It’s not passed yet Rachie but is 28 Feb so I’d need to resign before finding something else if I was going to.

Thanks everyone. Even writing this out has made me realise I really need to get out.
