I am a teacher in a private school. Secondary. I like it. I like the kids and the classes and my colleagues.
But I work every single evening and at least one weekend evening.
I find myself ushering my own dc to bed earlier than they need to go because I need to work. I teach from Ks2 to Ks5 and delivering new syllabuses so the planning is heavy and the marking too.
I am just sick of having no life outside of teaching. I haven't got any time to exercise, read or hang out with my own dc. Are all professional jobs like this? Just not sure how much I can do. I am only 32 so I have a million years to go!

I had exactly the same problem. Have been working 0.8 since September and the difference this has made to my work life balance is incredible! I don’t work at weekends at all any more, but I work all day on my day off. Evening work is minimal.

If you can afford it, go for it! I don’t think teaching full time is possible if you have a family.
