Private school teachers

Thought we could have a thread here for those teaching in the private sector. I find a lot of other "go tos" are usually focussed on state education.

Anyway, I'm part time Year 2 in a prep school.

Anyone else?

I have just taken early retirement from an independent secondary school where I worked 3 days a week. I have been asked to go back to teach EPQ to Sixth Form.

I'm part time in secondary independent school :-)

Anyone else?

Me too Rachie I work 0.6 in a non-selective indie secondary

I am a full time prep teacher. I’m surprised at the part time Year 2, my school doesn’t let anyone be part time. Apart from the odd specialist like the French teacher. Everyone returning from maternity leave always asks and gets turned down! Apparently parents don’t like it!

Jazz I love the fact I'm part time! I do mon- wed and my job share does thurs/fri. I only teach maths/English/science as have specialist subject teachers for music, pe, art, ict, French.

I've worked in three independents and always been part time.

Year 3 class teacher in a small independent prep here. Full time, as “the parents wouldn’t like part time teachers”. I’ve had my request for PT turned down twice.

This is my second independent and neither have allowed part time form teachers. It’s a shame, we have lost amazing teachers who didn’t come back after maternity leave.

Independent, secondary.
No work place is perfect but I do enjoy my job. Smile
