Shared Parental Leave

Hi just wondering if anyone here is a teacher that has taken shared Parental leave.
I am due my baby in April - I earn more than my husband and it would make sense for us to split leave somehow to maximise our incoming finances. I have just looked up shared Parental leave and it looks like I could take maternity until end of July (end of my occ maternity pay) then end my maternity and begin shared parental leave and go back to work for the summer holidays while my husband goes on leave for this time meaning we would be off together and earning about £700 more over the summer holidays.
I am also wondering if a different option which would help me take longer off with my baby is possible - that I end my maternity in July and then go back to work til sept and my husband also works during this time and then in sept I go back onto shared leave & the shared leave stat pay? Is this possible or does one parent have to be off at a time? Also is it even possible for option one where I am 'at work' during the holidays and my husband is off?
Thanks - a very confused teacher x

Hello!

I just wondered if you found the answer to this as I’ve been looking into exactly the same options as you! Ideally the end mat leave in July and start shared parental leave with pay on sept and husband work too over the summer! Or him take the time off if needed! Just wondered what you ended up choosing to do? Thank you :) xx
