Just that really, wondering about the financials, job has come up but the area is so expensive and we have three children, so we would need a significant discount and decent salary to make it work.

Any insider knowledge helpful!

Sorry I’ve not worked there, but Petersfield is a lovely area to live in, we looked at it when looking for commutable towns to London, this is probably partly what makes it more expensive. It’s also not too far from the coast.

Thanks for your reply, we have been on holiday nearby so we have seen how lovely it is and are very keen on the area. It's just so difficult to know how realistic it is for us to live and work there.

Do they not have staff accommodation?

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 26/11/2017 21:16

The Head of Art, for example, is going to be paid around £52k, will get discount equivalent of 80% of 2 sets of fees and some staff live in in return for boarding duties.

This info was not hard to find.

Hmm thanks, I have seen that.

I suppose the advice i was asking about specifically is the living costs, where do teachers normally live, that is affordable but close to school. The culture of the school and is it the norm for teachers to send their children there, what do you do if you have more than two children?

Some schools are more set up for families and others for start of career young teachers.

But not to worry, dh knows some people who have taught there as it turns out, so he can ask them when he sees them.
