PICU - Advice needed

Does anyone have any advice about working in a PICU environment?

I've got an interview through a supply agency tomorrow and wanted to know what it's like to work in this type of school?

I will be returning to work after maternity leave and wanted a job that was quite flexible with times and days, which this will have but I'm worried about the potential behavioural issues. I appreciate that these children are there for their own safety and will have specific needs but I'd just like some more idea of what to expect.

I volunteered in a PICU ed team and it was wonderful. It takes a certain type of person though - think not so much behaviour but motivation, mutism, children unable to engage because they are not present, children who haven't washed for days in end etc. It's more about being patient and encouraging and not feeling down in the face of a complete lack of response than having lots of poor behaviour. There will also be lots of staff (nurses and support workers) in the classroom too. Good luck!

I've googled- sounds fascinating!

It really does. It will be completely new for me but I'm looking forward to that aspect of it.
