Having seen loads of teachers around on various threads I thought it would be nice to find out who's who and what you do.

I'm a secondary maths teacher in a comp, been teaching for 12 years, part time for about 8. No TLRs which gives me plenty of time to post ranty threads about the state of education.

I hate Gove and like to picture him in his wellies inspecting pig farms, which is what I like to think his current job is all about.

HoD MFL here in an 11-16 in Yorkshire. 12 years teaching. Very high stakes this year, feel like if the results don't go up next year my job is at risk, certainly my TLR.

Hello!

Secondary English for 11 years and about to pull the escape parachute- too much extra bullshit, too little time. My mental health wouldn’t survive another full year so it’s out I go. Crying shame really as I love the experience of the kids in the classroom. But SLT initiatives have ruined that too.

Bromeliad · 03/10/2017 19:08

I’m also a secondary science NQT (physics specialist) working in a comp.

Spottytop1 · 03/10/2017 19:12

I teach in a Sen school 7-25 years of age.

I am a key stage 3 teacher and Maths lead for ks2 & ks3.

I've been teaching 12 years.

Cakesprinkles · 03/10/2017 19:16

Music HoD here. Qualified 10 years, on my 3rd independent school. Worked in loads of schools as a peri before doing my PGCE so have probably worked in 40+ schools in total. Feeling worn down today but am generally positive and sparky about teaching. Have had some tricky conversations today and feeling very drained.

SandyBeachandtheDeckchairs · 03/10/2017 19:17

I'm a NQT working at an "outstanding" school in SE London. Previously had a successful career in publishing with own desk and ability to wfh, now am hounded by 7yr olds and am haunted by my own inadequacies.

MrsKnightley · 03/10/2017 19:17

English, in Scotland. 28 years (20 of them in the same school). Sole teacher (tiny school) which means I am both boss and slave.

bumblebee77 · 03/10/2017 19:21

Primary here, school senco and teacher of a discrete class for ASD children within a large mainstream primary school. All ages, so an interesting mix.

EnormousDormouse · 03/10/2017 19:22

Early Years, 6 years in the UK, but I have escaped and am now very, very happy teaching on the Middle East.

Blueemeraldagain · 03/10/2017 19:23

Hello!

I have been teaching for 4 years. Secondary English. I work in a school for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

It is very draining but I appreciate that my emotional energy goes into the students 90% of the time and not a billion meetings, 100 data sheets with the same info on, new ideas and schemes every 3 months etc.

Harvestmoonsobig · 03/10/2017 19:29

Qualified- 1994 as DT secondary. Drawn to SEN. Became HOY. Set up specialist provisions. Now supply as a TA. Offered teaching contracts but can't face it.

0ellenbrody0 · 03/10/2017 19:30

Hello,

Primary teacher here. Currently in Yr2 after a few years in Yr1 and many in EYFS.

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 03/10/2017 19:30

English teacher of 20 years standing here. Qualified in 1996. I teach 4 days a week in a large semi rural comp. I still love the job despite many frustrations. I love teens - mostly - and enjoy enthusing kids about books. Even when it doesn't work or the curriculum is dull and difficult (thank you Gove), kids still make me laugh every day. And I have great colleagues. That helps too.

TheThickenPlots · 03/10/2017 19:31

Another maths teacher here. In my 12th year and 7th part time. I have a TLR for being 6th form lead for maths. I work in a converter academy with about 1.5k students.

Tsuipenongin · 03/10/2017 19:31

HoD MFL been 0.6 since my eldest was born. Currently feeling like I’m not going to be HoD for much longer following recent change of SLT and moves to become part of a MAT.

TheThickenPlots · 03/10/2017 19:32

Just realised it's my 13th year! The marking of approximately 3 million y13 CATs has addled my brain Wink

RaininSummer · 03/10/2017 19:41

I was Primary but now teach English and Maths to 16+

cloudleopard · 03/10/2017 19:47

Primary, teaching for 22 years. Currently in Y6, first year back FT after 8 years PT. Was SLT in a previous life but had to give it up when I went PT, no desire to return to management. Teach in an outstanding school. I'm now the most experienced (and oldest) class teacher in the school, I remember when I was the youngest!

cherrypiesally · 03/10/2017 19:52

Secondary social science and Hums. Teaching since 1998, started in lovely rural school moved to a hard inner city school for 17 years which I loved for about 13 years but ended up very disillusioned and hated the leadership and then moved to suburbs. Love my job again.

Kremekrackered · 03/10/2017 19:58

Secondary science HoD and SLE for local teaching school alliance

pieceofpurplesky · 03/10/2017 20:01

Secondary English in a comp. 19 years
Previous Head of Year/Pastoral lead but couldn't do it and be a single mum! So full time English and TLR in literacy

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 03/10/2017 20:05

UKS2 teacher here. I’m an RQT and thoroughly miserable. I’ve applied for a job in a different field because I feel my mental health is struggling.

ProphetOfDoom · 03/10/2017 20:17

Secondary English 23yrs.
