New school blues

Please tell me it gets better.

I've just moved from a 1 form entry school (where I was for 2 years- NQT and NQT+1) to a 5 form entry school that is much, much more organised and 'strict' (for lack of a better word). I have never felt so terrible about myself in my life. I feel like I'm constantly swimming against the tide to get everything done and I hate not knowing all the systems and having to ask questions and that whatever I do, everyone else has done more, and better. I can't stop comparing myself to all the other teachers and feeling consistently crap because they are all so much better than me. I feel like I'm a terrible teacher and I just need to know that once I settle into the new timetable and expectations it'll improve!!!

It will improve as you will learn the routines.
However you might not get used to the strict element of the school. Good luck

I started a new school 2 years ago. I'd say it took me a full half term to feel like I knew what I was doing. I hated it at first but went on to love it.
In a new school again now and utterly hate it but it's a high-pressure academy where teachers have zero work life balance - pretty much made up my mind I'm going at Christmas!
