Interview lesson without technology?

I have no laptop as I don't work currently, but I have an interview lesson on shape with year 4 to plan. Is it ok to do things the old fashioned way?!

I won't. If you don't have access to a PC at home then prepare your resources at the library and then in school you can use their PCs or laptops.

So I really need to have some kind of input on a screen as part of the lesson? I'm
Not trying to be obtuse, I just haven't worked in 7 years and I don't know how far behind I am lol!

If you haven't taught for 7 years then they may be concerned about how up-to-date your skills are. If you then teach a lesson with no use of technology this will just confirm their concerns, especially if you're doing a lesson on shape which requires lots of visual input.

You are right of course. I have no problem with using technology in theory, it's just not knowing if what I prepare will work in school. I will find a computer to work on pronto 😂

If you are worried about the software you should contact the school and ask them what software they have.

Have a back up plan in case the technology doesn't work - I recently observed a lesson where everything that could go wrong with technology did go wrong and the poor teacher was completely flustered.

Make sure you are up-to-date with the new curriculum.

Good luck.

I think it's fine! I recently had an interview where I was told I couldn't use technology for the lesson. I assumed this was because it will inevitably not work on the day and that can't then be used as an excuse for why a lesson wasn't particularly good. In the last 2 interviews I attended, I didn't use technology and was offered both jobs.

Interesting Lemon 😀
I have done a keynote presentation for the lesson, but the starter and main activity are not tech based. I have written an alternative on the lesson plan though in case it doesn't work!
Glad it's happening early this week- the kids are bound to be past it in the last week of term lol!

Good luck

I would expected typed lesson plan and resources, but quite happy for an interview candidate not to use an IWB. I never do, but always preface that these things always go wrong during interviews!

I got the job 👍 Thanks for the advice all
