Misuse of student survey

Hello and thanks for even reading this at this stage of the year..

A rather inexperienced colleagues has asked kids for a survey which is very directly and crudely linked to individual teachers.
Obviously it's out of order to expect 11 year olds to evaluate their teachers personally.
How to proceed without great fallout...?

If it is badly constructed, the results will be meaningless. How is the data intended to be used? Shouldn't the survey been approved first either by Hod or another colleague before it went live?

What is the context?

TheFallenMadonna · 12/07/2017 22:12

Are you the line Manager? Is the line manager aware?

WishIwasanastronaut · 12/07/2017 22:17

God you have all asked such professional questions which highlight again to me the quagmire in which I work...

I am not the line manager. I stepped out as I can not handle such Unprofessionalism. HoD, no - it's a head of section who's created it. No one else checked and the first I knew was when the parents mentioned it...

What's a head of section? The Head should deal with it if parents are aware I think. And potentially I would contact the unions too. Depending on the actions of the Head.

Just to say whenever a 'surveymonkey' is done within our dept. or faculty, we are sent the link before the students so mistakes are minimised. Years ago when I taught in a sixth form college my department would do a paper based end of year survey. The quality of teaching question was set as 'good, very good' or excellent' Grin. The students saw the joke.
