Thank you card

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and two of my year 11 students have given me this wonderful basket full of baby bits (some Next baby grows, a sophie the giraffe, socks, bath wash and this gorgeous elephant comforter which was knitted by one of their mums). It's way more than I've ever been given for a thank you/leaving present and I'm so touched. Considering the thought and obvious effort that's gone into it would it be weird to post a thank you card home to each of them, partly to thank their parents too? Or is it silly to send a thank you card for a thank you present?

I always try to send thank you cards to my pupils for gifts they give me at the end of term (primary) - don't always manage it but I aim to. I view it as modelling good behaviour!

I always give out thank you notes for gifts I've been given at school. Such a thoughtful gift definitely needs an acknowledgement.

You don't think its weird to post them home? I won't see them otherwise

Not at all, I'd go for it.

They'll be very pleased to get a note to home that shows their efforts were appreciated.

DC2 got a thank you note card to our address from his yr 3 teacher. It was on his bedroom wall for years! As a result, I always sent home thank yous when I became a teacher.

I wrote them a thank you card and gave it to them at prom. Both very touched and thankful (I think I added to the emotion of prom & leaving etc.) Thanks for the help
