Getting a job

How does one politely enquire about a vacancy that one might be well suited to, if a body knows about it from a child at the school, which has not been advertised. It's very p/t. A handful of A level students, basically?

I think it depends on the school / situation / how you know about it, etc.

You could email the head with a very direct, "I understand there might be a vacancy for ..."

Or be more subtle with an on-spec application "in case any vacancies arise"

Lots of schools have a "even if we don't have any vacancies at the moment we'd like to get to know you" message on their jobs site. Just send an introductory letter.
