Anyone done one? Had a big chat with a visiting advisor today who I've been working with who said I should look in to doing one as more and more schools like them for Asst Head roles etc. Just wondered if there were any wise thoughts/advice here!

Do it for you if you want to do it, not because it will improve your career prospects.

A few years ago the then government talked about wanting to make education a masters level profession. No government has mentioned it since.

It's a lot of work on top of the day job - and despite what uni recruiters say no, it's not a necessity. Don't forget they have their own agenda to work to

There are only three teachers in my (admittedly small) secondary with MA+ and only one of those did it in education. The other two had previous STEM careers.

Even in my previous very large secondary there were only a handful. Again, mostly STEM career changers. Two NQTs bought the hype about "upgrading" their PGCE to an MA during their first year... didn't do them any favours though. They were still rookie teachers with little "actual" experience! Neither of them (six years later) are anywhere near asssitant head!
