But working 4 days over 5? I've been offered two afternoons out but realistically, is my workload going to still be as if I were full time?

Assume you would have ppa time on top of the 2 afternoons?

I work 0.9, but at least 8.30am - 3.15pm every day. It's worth it though because I can do my own school runs on almost FT money.

I negotiated 2 afternoons a week off the year my son went to secondary school. It's something like 0.82 though, because mornings are longer than afternoons.... The lions share of the preparation and marking comes from morning lessons - English and Maths, so 2 afternoons off will never be equivalent as the chances are it will include Art or PE which don't have any/much marking at all. So I would say you won't be doing as much work as you would full time, but you also will be doing more than if you had a full day off.

The best advice I was given was to not take my lunch with me. I got in the habit of only staying long enough to pack up and say a quick goodbye - it could be very easy to fall into the trap of staying for lunch in the staffroom, then doing a couple of jobs before you leave, then getting caught by parents' cars... I was teaching year 6 at the time and so frequently spent afternoons off sitting in Starbucks doing my marking, but somehow the fact that I was doing it there made me feel so much better about it! And of course I then didn't have to do it in the evening, which was even better.

I did 0.8 over 5 days (secondary) and it just meant I could do my prep and marking in school so did very little at home. I really liked it as I had a couple of mornings or afternoons off so I could do school run and even went in to help out at my DD primary school.

That's good. Just concerned the pay drop won't equate to the lesser work load

I do 0.8 and love it. I work on my 'day off' but that means I don't work at weekends so I have more time with family.
