Secondary teachers - how many periods do you teach?

At the moment we are, amidst ever tightening budgets and redundancies, considering moving from a 43 period teaching timetable to a 44 - in a 50 period fortnightly timetable. I was just curious what other schools do? Have your schools got any amazing ideas to raise revenue? Apart from a Euromillions ticket....

We have a sixty period fortnightly timetable and some staff are on 54. I am on 53 as i get one session per fortnight for mentoring ITT students.

21/25 periods per week.

I am mainscale with no TLR.

I teach 32/40. Full time HoD.

40/50 main scale teacher. My school values staff.

My main scale staff teach 45/50. Middle leaders on a bit less but not much...

I teach GCSE in FE. I teach 26.5 hrs a week and have 10.5 hours desk time.

We teach 45 / 50 per fortnight, but aren't expected to do any cover. which sometime works.

18/25 HOD and SLE in an academy in special measures with no headteacher for 4 years and it's totally shit

47/50 with a 2 week timetable.

Mainscale: 21/25 a week. No cover.

Easter revision school used to be paid- it's voluntary now.
Used to get a free lunch when you did a (paid) lunch duty. Now get neither pay nor lunch.
All trips in school holidays to lessen cover needed.

Oh yes Leccy some paid lunch duties still but MLT and SLT on unpaid lunch cover as well as increased before and after school duties. Trips not going ahead as no cover available, we are asked to look on the calendar before asking for LOA. My DS needs a tooth removed under sedation I have had to cancel it once, I hope I will be granted LOA for an hour the second time.

47/50 is not legal under School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document. 10% of teaching time is supposed to be the minimum PPA.

We teach 45/50 over a two week timetable. And it's killing. I currently have (as well as my KS3 groups) 8 KS4 and KS5 classes in a marking heavy subject - and they are big classes of around 30...some are over 30 even at KS5. On top of this trying to get my head round a new GCSE scheme and the new grades. I am just about on my knees at the moment. Have refused to sign up to do any Easter revision classes on the basis that I've got nothing left to give and I need some time with my family.

FE here and we do 20 out of a 25 hour timetable. But we also do personal tutor roles which add up to one lesson a week so it's basically 21/25

Bless you are quite right I teach 45/50. I posted after a 3 hour parent teacher evening, so I was very tired and obviously not thinking straight.

I teach 21/25 40 mins periods a week. I teach English in an SEMH secondary school.

25/30 here for classroom teachers.

Thank God for that elephant. (not that you are so knackered!) but I was fearing I had failed to realise that they'd scrapped that and that I would find myself next year teaching even more lessons. I love my job, but am seriously wondering how much longer I can keep going with the demands and the ridiculous hours. We keep being told there is a black hole in the finances, but SLT can't keep expecting teachers to fill that at the expense of their own health and sanity. It's becoming ridiculous. We broke up for Easter today - and I have 59 mock GCSE papers to mark and 53 A level essays. I have 3 sets of books I've brought home - one (KS3) set I've realised I haven't marked since before Feb half term cos I haven't had time and they've got missed. We've had a parents evening every single week since Christmas on top of staff meetings every week after school. I also have no resources/planning in place for after Easter for new GCSE, so will have to try and produce all that over these two weeks off. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but is everyone else completely shattered? And do we just see it getting worse?

Exhausted. We're expected to run Easter holiday revision (I've refused) unpaid - HT says no money to pay staff. But there IS money to send Year 11s who attend the sessions on a reward trip to a theme park. That's costing about £3000 apparently. 😡

34 in a 50 period but I also have 5 periods with meetings or on call for the isolation room.

I teach 29 out of 35. I teach English and am also head of year 11- 165 kids. We do two covers a week and so I have four "frees" although I have to babysit a study group during all of those. One more week of term to go! 😴

My HoD / DL was asked what we are doing as (unpaid) Easter revision sessions 5 days ago. I am pleased she replied 'nothing' as we were not aware of this. I have run February half term catch up coursework sessions previously, but this year there hasn't been the need. Well done Evil.

Lockedout, so basically you get no frees at all, no time to discuss with colleagues or phone parents, your school are taking the piss.

Blessyourcottonsocks a parents' evening every week since Christmas?!! What on earth? And why do you need to have a staff meeting every week as well? We have absolutely no money but our head is considerate in terms of meetings and our unions are strong here too

42/48 per fortnight, plus a weekly form group session (0.5 period) which often leaves marking to be done.

Each week students have 4 days of 5 periods and 1 day of 4 periods, what would be period 5 on the 4-period day is used for a whole school staff meeting.
