Is anyone part of the trad v prog debate on Twitter?

I'm not and don't use Twitter much but have stumbled into this fraught area.

Apart from many thought provoking posts about the way forward for education, much of it seems to be personal attack, apologies, bullying accusations and so on. It's quite something.

If any of the main trad prog proponents are on here, can I make a suggestion, calm your noggins and make a fresh start. It all makes exhausting reading and isn't really pointing anyone in a great direction.

The current spat is being described as some as a trad v prog split but as far as I can tell it has nothing to do with teaching styles and is just a bit embarrassing all-round.

No - can't be bothered. I find it all a bit playground to be honest. Takes me right back to secondary school - very cliquey and no matter what I think, it's bound to be wrong.

Also, as a drama teacher, I'm never going to fit in with trad. I just happen to think that it doesn't have to be one or the other.

I'm an observer. Both seem as bad as the other tbh. The Michaela bashing/worship is just rather boring now.

I am a fan of Didau but the Twitter back slapping that seems to go on between him and Tom Bennett is a little too much at times.

So yes, it's an interesting debate but one that has sometimes become clouded by personality. I love my job as a teacher despite the pressures. I work in a niche area and it can get lonely sometimes so I like to keep up on Twitter.
