Class gift for teacher - quick query

If your school has a tradition of buying the teacher a class gift, would you prefer to given a heads-up beforehand so you could suggest a favourite shop you like if they were going down the gift card route? Or would that be awkward and embarrassing?!

No, I am not a teacher - I am parent organising a gift for a teacher from the class and asking if it would be appropriate or not to ask the teacher if they have a favourite shop or whether I should just get John Lewis/Amazon vouchers and hope they shop there.

Yeah, go for somewhere general. Amazon, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer.

I wouldn't ask

LockedOutOfMN · 14/12/2016 21:26

Don't ask. M&S and JL are good, as previous posters have said.

I got an email from a parent from a different class, asking what shop my gift card was to come from.
