Personal statement for PGDE

After dithering about, I have decided I am going to give it another shot this year and apply for the PGDE.
Wondering if anyone here has had experience of reading personal statements for this? Or even any teachers who could offer some advice on how to write a decent one!
I have one written and ready to go - but I have no idea if it is actually any good. Xmas Blush

Nothing to add but watching with interest. Maybe you could post what you have written and ask a Mumsnet expert what they think?

I was thinking of applying for a PGCE this year too, for secondary English. I'm not sure as my health isn't good and I know it won't be easy. But I feel I would make a better teacher now than when I first got my degree.

I was thinking that, but don't want to post my PS online for the world to see - or for the plagarism check to flag up my new MN username Grin.
It would be great if any experts wouldn't mind reading it over and I could PM it.
I was debating between primary and secondary Psychology or Modern Studies but I have been more drawn towards primary for a long time - and only have primary school experience to draw on so think I will stick with that!

If you pm me, I'll send you my email address and I'll have a look over the weekend. I haven't written one for many years but have taught for a long time and have sat on recent interview panels so might be able to give you a few pointers.

I think you're mad though Grin!

Angels and Summer - Thanks so much! I have PM'd you both!
Summer - I have debated back and forth about applying for ages, as I think I'm a bit mad for doing it myself Grin
