A quick question for secondary SLT about OFSTED...

I'd be really grateful if anyone who is on the SLT of a secondary school can tell me, when the call came to tell you the inspectors would be arriving (tomorrow!), were you asked to completely clear your diary?

And, if so, would you be asked to cancel an Annual Review for a child with SEN that has been requested by a parent who is questioning the way you are implementing the child's EHCP?

And if you were required to cancel, would you do so without any explanation, simply saying you were 'too busy' to meet the parents (who you were aware had found it necessary to book a full day's leave so that YOUR choice of time for the meeting could be accommodated) ?

I might be feeling a 'tad' pushed out.... I thought OFSTED wanted to see the school operating as per usual, included very important Annual Reviews with parents!

I'm not SLT, but when Ofsted come everything else goes out of the window I'm afraid. The school can't operate as normal for the head, they will be hosting the inspectors.

You do have to be available for interviews with the inspectors, especially if you are leading an area of focus. And for joint lesson observations and learning walks. It really, really is not carry on as usual.

I would be massively apologetic though.
