Child l support ,leaving the school.

Wondering if anyone knows please?
I'm a 1:1 and have been supporting a child for the last 18 months.
I found out late Friday , that the parents are moving them. They aren't happy with the school. It wasn't me.
Anyway, will the school ask me to go too? Leave l mean? The contract l have is yearly- but as the child is going l realise they have no obligation to find me anything else.

It depends on the school and the contract. Is there a minimum hours clause in your yearly contract? I.e. You support the child for 25 hours but it says minimum 5 or 10? They might honour that until the contract expires, or find you alternative role. It usually includes '......or until the child leaves the school' so in theory yes, your employment ends when they go, taking into account any contracted notice period.
Some schools will do their best to hang onto good support staff, so do ask to speak to a member of SMT this week and see where you stand.

Thank you. I will need to check my contract- l don't remember anything regarding a minimum hours. I know there are some other children that are in the process of needing similar support. Requiring same type I've been trained in, so we will see. I will be speaking with the head today ( very small school) :)

Does the child have an EHCP?

Yes, they do. :)

Any funding attached to the EHCP will presumably move with the child, but hopefully the school will want to hang on to you to make use of your expertise.

I wondered about that. The school told me today that they'd like to keep me/ find a new position.
