It's not often that teachers get to boast about stuff, and there is no stealth about this:

I noticed a group of about 3 girls around my daughter (she is in the same school as me) and they were talking excitedly to her.

I found out afterwards that they were really happy with the way I had explained some stuff just moments earlier.'(I do not teach them)

My daughter was the star because I was the 'best maths' teacher in the school and I was her dad

I know it's bollocks. But it made me feel good, and I was so so pleased that my D's peers had said good things to her.

I want her to be proud of me in the school

MrsBungle · 27/09/2016 19:10

Aaah, that's really nice. Good on you.

RandomDent · 27/09/2016 19:11

Nice one, a great feeling. :)

booklooker · 27/09/2016 19:18

You are being far too nice!

I know full well that this is only one pupil, andit certainly does not mean I m a good teacher

But it has made my day

There's no better feeling for a teacher than pupils genuinely enjoying learning something Smile That's great, enjoy it and remember it.

sausagefest · 27/09/2016 19:26

Wonderful. Well done.

goingmadinthecountry · 27/09/2016 19:57

Enjoy. Those are the moments that show you're in the right job. A lovely moment.

hahahaIdontgetit · 27/09/2016 19:58

Keep hold of the good moments!

You should be pleased as punch.

Hulababy · 27/09/2016 20:00

Enjoy the feeling. Its nice to have something positive.

And remember it, just incase you do have the opposite one day - sadly it can happen to any of us, even if not justified.

booklooker · 27/09/2016 20:50

Well thank you all! I was expecting some comments to tell me not to be so smug.

I think I want to minimise such a comment as they came through my own daughter.

But it's still great to hear; and I know there are legions of others out there who could benefit from a little positive feedback

Nope, those are the moments that make it worthwhile.

Bluepowder · 28/09/2016 22:01

It's nice. Moments like that keep you going and make you remember why you do the job.

Floggingmolly · 28/09/2016 22:05

Good on you 👍

BellMcEnd · 28/09/2016 22:06

Bollocks: you clearly deserve the praise and it's fab that your daughter got to hear about it first hand.

I'm a huge supporter of teachers - you lot have a really tough career and judging by the teachers my two primary ages children have had, a lot of you are (despite the twats in government trying to grind you down) bloody ace.

Be proud!! Star

elephantoverthehill · 28/09/2016 22:43

101 shit comments and 1 good one. That's what keeps us going.

Wolfiefan · 28/09/2016 22:51

It's not bollocks. Today you made a difference to those students. They will remember that.
Your daughter will remember how it felt to be proud of her dad.
You sound bloody awesome!

Helpisathand13 · 20/10/2016 00:32

Bask in your smug fest you deserve it!

xOdessax · 24/10/2016 08:52

No way am I bursting your bubble!
I hope you teach my kids one day.

Well done Smile

booklooker · 24/10/2016 19:26

I hope you teach my kids one day.

I think that is possibly the nicest compliment any teacher can receive.

Thank you Odessa, you would probably withdraw it in a second if you actually knew me, but it was a lovely comment

You boast away! Lovely for you and your DD to hear Smile
It's so easy to forget the positive sometimes as a teacher but good feedback like that and girls going out of their way to tell your daughter, well that speaks volumes.
Well done.

LockedOutOfMN · 29/10/2016 20:12

Well done!
