Independent School discounts!

Rather a generic question and most probably different from school to school but does anyone have any experience with discounted fees when teaching / TA at an independent school.

Local prep offers 10% per ft day.

Sorry, can you clarify. Is that 10% per day attended by the child or worked by the employee?

So at your local it's possible to have as much as a 50% discount?

DH is a teacher at a 4-18 indie. We get a 75% discount but I think newer staff 'only' get a 50% discount.

Wow - that's good, even for a 'newbie'. I didn't expect the discounts to be that high.

In my last place it was 10% per day you worked so if you were full time you got 50% off. In my current job I get 30% but lunches and wraparound care are free so swings and roundabouts really.

A teacher a my school is moving to an independent school in September. They will be getting a 60% discount.

I know there are people at my work on different discounts. I never talk about how much our discount is at school-IME this leads to all sorts of problems.

I believe full time teachers get 50% at our school. TA's don't get a discount at all.

It depends on the school. My DDs' school gives no fee remission for teachers.

I am in a school overseas. I don't pay anything.

I should have said I don't pay anything for my daughter's schooling.

I've just got my contract through for an indie school - I am entitled to 33% discount for prep school and 66% for senior school (day fees).

I don't get any discount. It depends how many hours you work in my school. Those that do get them aren't allowed to disclose what they get so no-one has a clue who gets what. However the people who do get discounts aren't allowed to complain about anything and it can work against them in some ways if there is a problem. If you are happy with the school then it is great.

We get 50% at all the schools in the 'group'. DH works in Senior boys, DS at prep.
