Have you ever complained about another member of staff

Just wondered if anyone has done this and what the outcome was?
I've made a complaint about the misconduct of a staff member. What should I expect to happen next if anything? Very nervous and it took a huge amount of courage to pass it up the chain.

Yes, it was hideous quite frankly. I was very nervous and worried about bringing it up as it was about a member of my own department that I had been quite friendly with. However, with hindsight it had been brewing for years and turned out to be for the best for them as well. However, it left my department in a bit of a bind for a year and a term. I think I was actually shaking when I went to see the relevant DH to discuss the situation.
What to expect next? I would expect the people you passed it on to to investigate, but not necessarily to find out the results of that investigation. It really depends on the type of misconduct. In my case it was academic, don't want to say too much as would be a bit 'outing' but will willingly discuss over messages if you want any further information.

Yes and the HT dealt with the problem single handedly and I never heard anything else. You've done the right thing.

Thank you, been told it's being investigated so will wait and see what, if any outcome there is. Found out that students are also putting in a complaint, which I think will probably be looked at more than anything I've got to say.

Yes and the HT dealt with it appropriately. It's hard to report things, especially if they're in your department but it's necessary.

Yes. A student confided in me and I passed it on to one of our DH'S who dealt with it.

The student came to tell me they were happy they'd been listened to and how well they thought the DH had listened to them / taken them seriously.

I didn't do it through my direct line manager though - much better to have a degree of separation.

It takes a lot of courage to integrity to make a stand,- don't let this ruin your weekend op. As you say students are complaining too it is clear something has to be done.

I have had to complain in a subtle way - ie. How can I support a teacher type of way.
