Hello

I'm thinking of applying to mark scripts with AQA - English gcse or A level. Does anyone know how much they pay please? Is it per script?

Thanks Smile

I mark for WJEC so can't help you with AQA. For me it's per script, 3.50 something I think. Added up to around 1200 last year or maybe a bit more. That's English Lit.

It is hell on earth though!

Thanks for that! Yes, it's not something I particularly want to do - more for our family holiday. After 20 years of avoiding it, I thought I'd give it a go. Am assuming it's taxable at 25% too? Yuk!

Thanks.

I think so, I've only done it when I was earning under the tax threshold. I'm back to full time now and I'm not marking this year!

It is a really really useful process though. Professionally it's a great thing to do. And you can think about your holiday to get you through it! Is AQA marked on screen? WJEC is still paper.

It is on screen yes - and apparently you can mark all of, say, question 1, then question 2. And they stop you for checking after 40 of any one question. It is tempting - might give it a go. Thanks for the info!

I did it last year and got just shy of £1000 after tax for marking 451 maths papers.

It is time consuming and you will have to do a tax return next year with AQA as well.

I enjoyed it and am doing it again this year although will be between 36-38 weeks pregnant!
