Observation lesson worksheets or just practical? Please help.

Hi. I have 35 min observation...practical subject ...would you advice to include worksheets? Year 9. normally prepare lesson around practical activities but perhaps i could include a bit of written work ?

Do safety first - perhaps matching together good practice with reasons?
Wear goggles to... ....protect eyes from damage etc
If they are quite able then list possible issues that could arise and get them to work out the best way to prevent it.

Why not have practical and written work? I always have some writing.

What's the subject? I teach drama and wouldn't hesitate to do a purely practical lesson for an ob. OFSTED saw me with yr 12 and there was no writing. The feedback was all very positive.

Do you build in self-evaluation and peer reviewing into each lesson? Along the lines of 'What went well..., even better if..., next time...'

I teach a practical subject and for observed lessons I do practical (if that's appropriate for where we are in the project). As long as the kids know the success criteria and make progress it doesn't matter. Make sure you go round asking probing questions and have a starter, mini plenaries and a proper end not just tidying up! Be hot on health and safety obviously.
