There are lots of people quitting the profession on here! Someone entrepreneurial could almost set up a specialist job agency for ex teachers. I'm just interested in hearing about what roles you got into after leaving, other than tutoring /supply?

A friend of mine has just left and gone into s job where she tutors children in care for the county, getting their attainment up to county expectations/average. She'll manage here own diary abs drive around plus no planning marking in evenings but with paid school holidays! Envy

I'm an advisory teacher for children in care- I don't tutor children directly, but work with schools, social workers and foster carers to support the academic achievement of the children in care to the borough I work for.

As an aside, there seems to be a real shortage of tutors with an understanding of some of the issues children in care face in some parts of the country.

I do a bit of supply if I feel like it. I left after twenty four years. I'm fifty five now and don' t want or need another permanent position.

Kind of dreading returning with two small kids but we shall see how I get on. Have had a glorious 7 years off extended maternity leave) never been happier and less stressed.
