For some years I've been really keen to re-train in a support role within education, and now the time is right for me to pursue a new career path.
I have a lot of in-school volunteer experience (primary) and a lot of non-school related workplace experience, in a totally different sector, but with sound transferrable skills (I think!) This career path is something I'm committed to, and I'm currently trying to find out about the best way in.
I currently work flexibly/freelance so could volunteer or study towards qualifications alongside my existing commitments. Would it be better to approach a school and volunteer whilst gaining mentoring/counselling/support qualifications, or get the qualifications first?
Thanks for any insight.
