er...no.

KittyandTeal · 03/01/2016 10:44

Dose yourself up on anything and everything going. Is tmrw not an inset day for you?

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 03/01/2016 10:45

Well, you can…..but it would mark your card forever. Sad but true.
Whatever it is, take medicine and mention it. "Sorry I've got a migraine and have taken my meds, but might be a bit under par"

woodenlofts · 03/01/2016 10:48

No, not an inset day.

I just keep being sick and when I'm not being sick I am feeling sick. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow ...

Does your school not have a 48hour exclusion zone for sickness? You would need to be off for 2 days? Be off if you must, but as others have said, this will be how they forever remember you.

KittyandTeal · 03/01/2016 11:28

Ah if you're being sick and tmrw isn't an inset I'd say that's a bit different. We have a 48hour rule for sickness so it might be worth contacting your head and checking what he/she says

I have to go in, I know I do! Just feel very sick still.

Jesabel · 03/01/2016 11:45

If you're actually vomitting and have been repeatedly vomitting in the 24 hours before starting your job, then you can't go in.

woodenlofts · 03/01/2016 16:24

It's mostly gone, I shall be fine I am sure!

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 03/01/2016 16:25

If you are throwing up then you can't go in FFS. You will infect every student and teacher within a vomit exclusion zone.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 03/01/2016 16:26

It's not about whether you'll be fine though.

What about everyone else at work?

48hr quarantine after last episode of sickness. You should know this if you work in education.

woodenlofts · 03/01/2016 16:26

I can't possibly ring in sick on my first day! Shock

OP posts:
madmother1 · 03/01/2016 16:27

I was like this yesterday with a headache and sickness bit I feel fine today. I hope you feel ok x

LilacSpunkMonkey · 03/01/2016 16:31

So when the kids are dropping like flies because you've brought in a sickness bug you'll be ok with that?

It's bad enough when parents send in sick children but for staff to do it beggars belief.

And if you've already decided why bother posting?

Wolfiefan · 03/01/2016 16:33

You will be fine.
Other people may not be. You could infect a vulnerable child or an adult visiting a sick relative in hospital.
It shows how fucked up schools are that you think this is better than ringing in sick.

woodenlofts · 03/01/2016 16:33

I'm not planning on getting that close to them Lilac

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 03/01/2016 16:33

And I hope you don't teach at my kids' schools.

elephantoverthehill · 03/01/2016 16:34

Always best to go in and get sent home if necessary in my book especially on a first day. Take in a change of clothes in case you have to do the walk of shame with all those beady eyes as you hobble back to the car. Could it be a few nerves not helping? Best of luck tomorrow and I really hope you feel better soon.

CocktailQueen · 03/01/2016 16:34

No, don't go in within 48 hours of a sick bug... But ring your ht today to explain.

woodenlofts · 03/01/2016 16:36

Bingo!

I don't know how to get in touch with anybody so I can't ring in. I don't think it's a bug, I often get nauseous and sick-y when nervous.

OP posts:
mysteryknickers · 03/01/2016 16:36

I don't think it will mark your card. It's life for goodness sake. Sickness can happen to anyone, it's not like you've made yourself ill on purpose.

PotteringAlong · 03/01/2016 16:36

You are all deluded if you think the 48 hour exclusion thing applies to staff too. If I suggested I needed to be off for 48 hours after is been sick I'd be laughed at and then probably disciplined for staying off sick when I wasn't.

mygrandchildrenrock · 03/01/2016 16:40

I was wondering if it was sickness through nerves/anxiety. I hope you'll be alright tomorrow, but I wouldn't worry about infecting anyone else if you are frequently like this when stressed. At our school it is 24 hrs for staff, 48 for children, but not if it is not a sickness bug.
Good luck with the new job.

ChipInTheSugar · 03/01/2016 16:42

Pottering - sounds like my place! If you're sick, you just have the bin to hand EnvyConfused
