HLTA annual review targets - what shall I put? Please help!

On Monday I have my annual review (only found out about it on Friday!) and, by then, I have to fill out a form and one of the questions is, what 3 targets would I set for myself - and at least 1 of the targets should concern pupil progress. I am new to the school (Sep), really like working there and things seem to be going well. My role is mostly English intervention (small groups) with KS3.

What shall I say my targets are? I've never really had to do that before. Presumably writing "to carry on doing my job to the best of my ability with as little interference from SLT as possible" is not an option. I thought of things like, "to increase confidence of working with IT" but is that too woolly?

I don't know what to do about pupil progress. My role involves some planning and, obviously, I do mark their work and that informs what I plan next but I am not responsible for setting or marking formal assessments - that would be covered in their English lessons with their English teachers.

Generally HOD and SENCO make positive noises in my direction so hoping the review will go well but I need help thinking of some targets please!!

Do they have to be SMART targets? Do you not have to measure pupils' progress somehow or is that left to others to do? Maybe specify what IT you want to be confident in and how you will use it when you are. I expect if you go along with some ideas whoever it is you have the review with will help you word it so it fits the form.

Do one for Cpd in literacy and IT (have a look on findcpd and your local authority to see what's available)

What's on your school improvement plan? Look at something on there

progress - to continue keeping records of students work and to liaise with other departments how they keep records.

Those are really good ideas, thank you!! Yes, I will do a specific IT one and maybe suggest a primary literacy type one as we have a lot of Year 7s coming in who can barely read and, being secondary rather than primary trained, I am a little out of my depth with that so that's a great idea. Thank you - I can never think of these things!

The progress one is really good, too, thank you.
