....if you had an INSET for data, what would you include (if you're a fellow data-phile!) or like to have covered?

We're currently grappling with A*-E changing to 9-1 and life after levels...

Time to analyse and use it. Tell me the basics in an hour, include school expectations on data entry. Then let us go and use it.

We're planning to give time to go and complete a set of grade cards during the INSET so that departments can discuss grades for students and get a feel for the 1-9.

Would that be helpful?

What are grade cards?
. Tbh the exam boards are being sketchy about linking topics and skills to levels so I wouldn't want to or feel confident doing this.

At the moment we are loosely linking new levels to old grades and going from there.

1-9 is only relevant to English and maths this year anyway.

'It's an absolute buggers' muddle & we'll get back to you once some dubious crony of the current or past ed sec has produced some overpriced INSET/textbooks/baseline tests which we can seize on thankfully & spend the salary of 3 ETAs on. Now, haven't you all got planning & marking to do? Run along then'

Sorry. I too like data. But if it's not robust data it's just wasting everyone's time.

Yep agree re robust data. We're having serious issues assessing current y10 in maths. We can assess progress using old grades and loosely cross to the new levels. But we are not sure if the levels are accurate, probably won't be until they are examined in 2017.
