Hii am one, in my 4th school and they've all been so different - wondered if anyone wanted to chat about their role!

Hi Opera.. Me too, been doing it since it started but in the same school. I go between hating it to loving it. I'm pretty lucky in that I have quite a bit of autonomy, I don't do support regularly, but do all the SIMS work and allocating staff, buying in supply and other roles. I did it because my dc were still at school. I don't want to be doing it for the next ten years until I retire.

I was looking at this job role recently. How did you get into it?

I'm quite interested but don't have any school teaching experience. Though I did spend a year teaching 16-18 year olds for a specialist gcse level qualification. Wasn't in a school though but at a family centre. So not sure that would be enough. I see jobs advertised near me but mainly agency work.....but some of the agency ads do say permenent jobs as well as short term.

Well when I applied it was the first year that CS were employed, so schools weren't too sure. I'd not taught, had degree and had done some voluntary work in a PRU. Most agencies employ grads who are looking into teaching or those who have done teaching qualification and haven't found a job. My advice is find a small local agency (not the big boys) and go and have a chat.
Your experience is a lot more than some supply staff ive had.

Thanks. I really need a permanent job rather than just short term contracts. But will put my cv into some of the agencies.

I progressed from ta to cover... I've moved around schools, primary and high school, much prefer high school!
My current school is in special measures and its getting so much help, I really get a good vibe from it. Hope it lasts!
I've been trying to get a permanent contract for years, good luck!
