What is the difference between an hourly part time contract and one that says .4 or .6?

I presume hourly contracts are paid less? Does it make any difference to things like having to attend staff meetings training dates etc on your days off?

I'm assuming hourly pays you for just the hours you teach. I was on 0.8, so did 80 %of everything- lessons, non contact time, meetings etc. I was paid 80% of a full salary.

Thanks - I wonder if it's cost cutting or just a reference to the hours I am teaching.

Did you go in for any meetings on your days off? I'm sure I read you can't be asked to do that.

I hardly ever did, mostly because it would have meant getting child care. There was one inset day where they asked me to go in and paid me a supply rate for the day.
