EYFS Maths adding/subtracting

Hiya,

Pirate theme topic ATM and I'm focusing on adding/subtracting single digits. The ELG exceeders can go beyond 10 and need more mental putting the number in your head and counting on practice but I need some nice activities to develop this skill. Any ideas?

You could adapt this idea but with a pirate hat.

Thanks both! I like the pirate hat suggestion because they just made them on Thursday so I could stick post its on and use them!

Use numicon. Pick 2 shapes and hide one ... so 6 and 1 hide the 6 so they can t use it. Great for loads if you have it.
