Anyone teach BTEC?

I need a rant. I teach BTEC L2 and up til Tuesday, hadn't been contacted by an SV about sampling. On edexcelonline, the list of SVs read "unallocated" for my subject. The on Tuesday morning, an SV contacted school asking for a sample by Monday 15th. It's taken until today to actually speak to someone at Pearson about it and they weren't exactly helpful. My argument is that the timescale it utterly ridiculous, and also that, if a re-sample is required, the kids have left school now so I wouldn't be able to get them to do any extra work. The guy I spoke to was totally unmovable. Their mistake (he accepted this but no apology) but they are not moving. I think it's unreasonable to ask for a sample at all this late in the day. Anyone got any experience that might help?

No advice, sorry just sympathy. I only teach L3 BTEC but it is truly the bane of my life. Actually, I love the teaching just hate the paperwork and hoop jumping. Need to investigate alternatives, especially now with changes to resubmission. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks - it helped to know I'm not alone! I think I am going to get a personal visit so hopefully it'll be more supportive than just the normal postal system.

Yes level 3 BTEC here. Pearsons really are awful. You have my sympathy, not that it is any use.

Do your best to meet deadline - can school give you any time/help? Maybe contact sv and ask about possible extension. I loved btec and mine was excellent. Willing to chat through any issues and find solutions. Was sampled 3 years in row! Gets easier x

Kathsmum - they are still being awful! Email Friday saying they'd arrange a visit rather than doing postal sample but nothing further today. Apparently they went through 7 SVs before finding one to do my school - apparently they don't have enough this year and the 7 who turned it down were all overloaded. Really cross because they've given me a stack of excuses but no apology. I've been teaching BTEC for years and have never had anything like this. Biggest issue is if they block the sample and want stuff done to the work, I can't do anything as all the kids have left. It's causing me no end of stress and Pearson can't do so much as answer an email!
