which year group start teaching similes and metaphors

Sorry if it is spelt incorrectly but I have my holiday brain on! Which year group do these start to appear I have gone totally brain dead from report writing and watching far too much Judge Rinder. Many thanks

End of Y1 for identification and use in their own writing I'd say. Confident by y2.

Year 1 for simile. Identify and write own. Didn't do metaphor with year 2 (but that might be because I also had year 1)
