Resignation dates

I'm not particularly happy at my current school (1st teaching job, been there 2 years). I'm thinking about resigning either to do supply or to jeep Huntingdon for a job I'd really like.

I know i havé to resign by May 31st but does that mean I need to resign tomorrow or can I decide over half term?

Thanks for any advice

I was old by the end of the half term holiday ie by the 31st. I emailed my resignation letter in, and asked for a confirmation reply that it had been received.

*told not "old"

I resigned informally a few weeks ago, formally earlier this week. If you've waited until now, it might make it more difficult for your school to recruit. (There will mostly be NQTs out there looking for jobs after half term.)
You've got until 31st May, but I'd make sure that your head has confirmed that he/she has actually received it by that date.
Good luck. Smile

Yes - I'd go belt & braces and send the email to the Chair of Governors as well as the Head. You've definitely got until the 31st to do it, but with people going away I'd want to make sure someone had read it in time!

You can resign over half term holiday. Make sure you email your Head , HoD and HR person by 31st. You can also pop a letter in as a belt and braces procedure.
