Advice/observations re External workshops

I posted in Freelance earlier then found this board so hope it's ok to ask the same thing here.

I'm a facilitator and deliver a PHSE type workshop in secondary schools. I've always worked through a charity which has sadly now lost government funding so my role will end in July.

The workshop has been bought in by several schools but not enough to keep going long term so I'm now seriously considering going freelance.

I absolutely love my job and know I can offer a high quality course (and for a fraction of the price as I have no overheads and both develop and deliver the course).

My issue is that I have limited experience of the initial contact and booking side of things as this was always undertaken by a line manager.

I'm fully CRB checked and am in the process of setting up as a sole trader, once that's done I'm ready to start initiating contact with schools.

So I just want to make sure I go about approaching them in the best way really and find out as much as I can about your experiences with external workshops which would be so useful.

You will have to sell yourself extremely well clearly defining your USP at reasonable cost and be able to highlight how depts cannot achieve the same inhouse or through usual county routes. Back up from previous, happy clients a given anyone carrying clout in the same field also, good luck.
