Hi all,

Am currently on maternity and am due to informally discuss returning to work with my head soon (I am primary). I also need to submit a formal request in writing to the head and governors. I want to return to work part time (three days) but I am struggling to write my request and am unsure of what to include! Have had a look online but the letters are very confusing and lengthy.
So to get to the point-can anyone tell me what it is essential to include in my letter and even better, does anyone have a sample letter they could send me?
Thanking you in advance!

There is definitely a simple version out there - I'm a HT and I've signposted my staff to it but I'm on a course at the moment and I cant link to it. Search for 'flexible working request'.
You should put into your letter the positive impact your PT would have on the school, list your assets!
Remember that this has to fit the needs of the business and your request could be refused- be prepared for that.
Good luck x

Go onto the tes forums to workplace dilemmas. TheoGriff has a post and a letter format on just this.
