First performance review coming up - what training?

I started as an LSA in an infant school last term. I came in at the very lowest grade, as I have no relevant qualifications.

After half term I will be having my first performance review. What training should I request as part of my objectives?

Don't think of training of 'going on a course'. There is unlikely to be much money available so most of your training will probably be internal.

You need to assess your own strengths and areas for development. Perhaps you feel really confident with phonics but you would like to see how spelling is taught? Perhaps you want to feel more confident with a particular area of numeracy? You would ask your line manager to recommend colleagues who are particularly strong and arrange to observe them with a specific focus, such as a Year 2 spelling lesson on tricky words, or a Year 1 numeracy lesson on number bonds. Observing colleagues and sharing good practice in this way is IMHO the best way to learn and to improve your practice in your own class.
