I only seem to use the staffroom to vent, but it does help so no replies are required Grin

Attended meeting as union rep for possible 188 notice due to budget changes

Angry parent who thinks I am mean and horrible for giving his son a homework detention (student and amazingly also his friendship group had over a week to do past multiple choice exam questions with his book and couldn't be bothered to attempt over 50% of them, but I'm wrong as he handed something in so he shouldn't be given a detention)

For some mysterious reason year 7s seem to have exploding pens that cover desks, faces, hands, books

Test software that was working fine last term now not loading, but of course it isn't anything that RM can sort out quickly (despite an official on line test due to take place this week)

And breathe; only 3 more get ups!

I've had loads of exploding pens recently too. Is it something in the air?l

TheSolitaryWanderer · 10/02/2015 19:02

Are the boobytrapped pens yellow? Becazuse the same problem has hit several classes I've been in the last couple of weeks.

teadog · 10/02/2015 19:28

Loads of exploding pens here too. I saw a pen explode after repeatedly being banged on the table?

cricketballs · 10/02/2015 19:41

no yellow but black, blue, red. 4 different pens in one lesson!

Oh God, the exploding pens. Year 7s and their stationery sagas drive me crackers. Little kids shouldn't be allowed fountain pens - those Berol handwriting pens should be obligatory. I might buy a load. That would thwart their "get out of class to wash their hands and waste time" plans.

SylviaPouncer · 17/02/2015 09:42

Yep, going to buy a tub of 42.www.specialistcrafts.co.uk/Productdetail.asp?Productcatalogue=HPTI

Fruityb · 17/02/2015 09:45

I know exploding pens too! It's never happened to me ever but at least once a week someone has it happen in lessons!

DontGotoRoehampton · 17/02/2015 10:10

I don't let them out to wash their hands - give them a tissue and carry on. They can wash their hands at break...

ArcheryAnnie · 17/02/2015 10:15

What was the outcome of the parent-thinks-you-are-mean incident, cricketballs? (From the parent side of it, I'd say you were totally right. Doing less than half your homework isn't "doing your homework", and I'd have told my DS to suck it up and do the detention without whining.)

SylviaPouncer · 20/02/2015 07:56

I'm fed up with kids using up my tissues. I'm a very snotty person and keep getting left with no tissues because the kids have snaffled them all.
