KS3&4 questions to a 'Lord'

Our school council is having a visit from a member of the House of Lords next month and I (mug form tutor) have promised to help them come up with a load of questions.

So far, Im drawing a blank, since I am bugger all limited knowledge of politics. Please, lovely Mumsnetters, can you help me create a list?

Thanks!

How did you become a lord
What do you do all day
What did you last vote on
?

JugglingLife · 29/01/2015 19:00

Which Lord is it?

crappyday · 29/01/2015 19:01

Are they a hereditary lord or elected?
What would they say is their 'specialism' if they have one?
What are they most interested in.
Which party are they or are they a cross bencher?
What is the most frustrating thing about being in lords.
Do eh mind not being allowed to vote in the general election?
Are they allowed to vote in euro (Mep) elections and local elections? (And if they answer that can you let me know?!)

I assume you've already gone through the House of Lords website?

That should inspire some questions.

TessDurbeyfield · 29/01/2015 19:05

Do they think they should be abolished and replaced by an elected chamber?

suboptimal · 29/01/2015 19:07

You can't think of one question?

Isn't it down to the kids to think of the questions?

HexBramble · 29/01/2015 19:27

Thanks everyone.
sub it's not really a case of can't, more like I don't have the time! Am up to my eyeballs in Y9 reports and I teach 4 classes, each with over 30 pupils. Am drowning in work and felt desperate, so turned to MN.
I've given each pupil on SC stern words to come up with a question each, but wanted some back-ups just in case.
