Leaving school next week

As the thread name States, I'm leaving school next Friday and going onto a new school.
Staff know but I haven't told children and I'm not really sure how to.
I was thinking Monday afternoon - but then again no idea how to word it.
I've got quite a challenging set of kids & I know a couple have the potential to be really nasty and go off the wall when I tell them.
Any tips are welcomed?!

They are likely to be nasty if they find endings difficult, so concentrate on having a 'good' ending. They may still be nasty, but at least you've done it the best way possible.

I think telling them on Monday is a good idea, and perhaps bringing something nice for each of your classes. A card for each of them would be nice.

Be empathetic if they are upset or angry about you leaving; lots of "It's hard when people leave". Maybe have ten minutes at the end of the lesson to have a chat with them and tell them what memories of them you will take with you (just the good ones Wink). Make sure you listen to them too, even if they think you've sold out and don't care about them. You don't have to correct them, just empathise.

Thank them for being them, and set them a challenge for the future.

Good luck Smile
