Professional subscription

I am new to working in a support role in a school and was thinking of asking for the school to pay for my membership to my professional body.

I used to work in a corporate environment where this was standard but is this the done thing in schools?

No many schools would not pay for that.

What professional body would you want to be a member of?

depending on what subscription it is, you can ask HMRC for it to be included in your tax code so you get tax relief on amount you pay out.
