Half my department are leaving!

I'm on maternity leave and I'm planning to go back briefly in July then start properly in September. However, my head and 2nd in department are going, plus another person who started this September. I'm worried I won't know anyone when I get back. Our department is such a fab group of people. I feel really sad.

I'd be more concerned as to why they are leaving (in particular the person who only started last month) rather that not knowing anyone

We had a new head last year and he's intent in changing everything. Super unpopular with the kids and staff. That's why they're leaving!

Will you even want to go back?!

I'd start looking for jobs just in case!

To be honest, that sounds like the least of your worries. Are you concerned about what it will be like working for this new head?
