Goodie. He's going to get lots of super people to come in and show failing schools how it's done. That is bound to help.

Or Tristram Hunt is going to get us to pledge an oath to be brill teachers. I'm sure that will be great, too. Not.

Presumably they'll all live in a special space station, cramming themselves with super lessons, waiting until they are called on by a desperate non-academy. At which point they'll be all Thunderbirds. A satellite will link them up with the offending LEA school, they'll all teleport down, stun the failing teachers, academise everything, and leave, onwards to the next poor school.

What self respecting super teacher would want a jjob like that? Really? Are they just going to sit around and wait for a call? Who is paying them while they do this?

A rehash of AST, that Teach First fandango and the one before that, I forget what it was called, where super duper graduates applied for it at 21 and made Head by 23 with about 12 minutes actual real talking to a child.

Rather than having these brilliant intelligent and highly-motivated SWAT team teachers coming in as firefighters to sort out isolated emergencies, wouldn't it be better to improve the situation in general, by, erm, listening to the teachers they've got and what they have to say?

I think where the 'National Teaching Service' might be going is that teachers would no longer choose which school to apply to/ work in- they would just be deployed.

I think there is a similar system in Canada and basically you start of out in the sticks fending the bears off at playtime and have to work your way up to being allowed to teach somewhere decent like Toronto. Weak teachers get moved on every few years so they don't have a massive impact on any school in particular.

There is a similar system in Medicine where you just apply to an area not a specific hospital (I think).

I imagine Cameron would love to send all the new or weak teachers out to Hull and Portland and post the shiny ones in London.

The NTS sounds like what Australia does to incoming doctors, who have to serve their time in WoopWoop before being allowed to shop in Melbourne or Sydney. It used to be like that for most Aus teachers back in the day.

The 'talent' will be going about their job in a normal school and will get beeped on the special phone when they are needed. A quick twirl in the toilet and they then fly off to the disaster zone, on the way getting up to date on the 'problem' and rewriting the lesson plans.

I bet they can be paid on a super-high salary and don't have to be actually qualified...?!

I bet this wonder-woman/man SWAT-team of fire-fighters will be exempt from lesson-plans, performance management, capability proceedings, endless marking and assessment too, as they need to focus on 'quality first-wave teaching'.

I wonder if all teachers would be fab if they could just do that...
