If applying for jobs - how to know local reputation of the school? i am applying NOT in my local area ...Thank you

Presumably you mean the local reputation of the school as a place to work as opposed to be a pupil? Your best bet is probably to ask on here (give the name of the LA) and then anyone who's local can PM you.

I agree it can be a problem applying to a new area. I didn't move house, but moved jobs to a different LA. Once I started there, I realised that the only people they'd appointed for years were either from a different LA or NQTs. No one from within that LA ever went there. Funny that...
