jobs in prep schools - how to recognise if the school is stable financially etc?

would like to apply for jobs but have heard that need to be careful in terms of stability of schools - how to find out such information? thank you.

Look at the accounts.

Companies House or the Charity Commission, depending on the school's legal status.

Also indicators like pupil numbers, local reputation and signs of confidence (like new infrastructure projects).

Yes, you should be able to see the accounts as the previous poster says. You may also be able to see financial and other information on the board of governors´ meeting notes which may be available online (even on the school´s own website although it may require a bit of searching on odd tabs...although if they are in great shape they might let them be more prominent).
