Fee reductions for teachers at independent schools/ secondary to prep?

Long story very short, if I'm a secondary teacher (which I am, currently working in state, but have done independent before and would happily again), is there a possibility I could get a fee reduction for my DD if she attended the prep of a school that went through from prep to secondary iyswim? Or would I have to be a prep teacher for her to get reduced fees in prep/ secondary when she's secondary (not that I'm going to faff my career about that, just wondering!) TIA

At the school foundation my ds attends, teachers at the senior school def get a discount at the prep schools

I guess it depends on the school(s) but my experience is that staff is staff and prep teachers do get the secondary discounts and vice versa.

Yes. OH worked as a secondary teacher in a 3-18 independent school. DD's fees were reduced by 75% when she was in Kindergarten and pre prep. A huge help as 25% was very affordable.

At my DC school several staff have DC there - one family has three there in secondary, fees about 30k pa so am assuming reduction is quite substantial!

Yes, it is usual for staff to get fee remission accross all age groups. Exceptions include if the prep or (more commonly) pre-prep section is very small the school may decide not to give fee remission for fear of 'flooding' admissions with children not paying full fees and endangering overall funding.

If I was you I wouldn't mention the existence of your children until after you have a firm job offer however!

I teach full-time in a secondary school, (a British school abroad). My son has just finished Year 1 in the infant school attached to ours and we´ve paid a hugely reduced fee of 1,000 Euros per term for him. It will increase in Year 3 and again in Years 7 and 12. In September his sister will start in the Nursery class in the EYFS school attached to ours and we will pay 800 Euros per term for her. On top of this we pay for lunches, uniform, books, trips etc. at the same rate as every other parent. When they get to that age we will also pay for their public examination entry fees.

In your situation I believe that it is likely your children would be entitled to reduced fees if there is space for them in the feeder school.

As others have said I agree it is wise not to mention your children until your contract has been signed.

I don't suppose anybody knows of a way of searching for 'through' schools like this? Is there a list of schools that go from pre-prep or prep through to secondary?

My last school was secondary only, and most others that I'm aware of are too, so not much use of the fees front (as I say the fees thing is in no sense my primary motivation, but if I'm going to be teaching in an independent school anyway it seems silly not to do so in one with such a significant benefit!)
