really struggling to make up my mind. People say to decide what I want, but I have got a mixed feelings and completely lost a truck what is the MOST important. Briefly: I am nearly 40...
here are some points:
- it is a step up position for me - promotion, would be in charge of a small department
- the offer is in a school that is closer to me ( 15 min drive) as opposed to 40-45 min drive to my present school.
- I have primary age kids - could potentially take them with me to the school ( my DH says that even with the discount we might not be able to afford...but I think once I move into this school I could stay there for 1 year and then see how finances goes and would have that option to bring my DC, at my present school there is no such option).
- might be slightly longer hours than my present school but shorter journey time...
- school seems to be stable but hear many stories of prep schools closing down
MY present school good points
- possibility to teach at senior level in a future ( not guaranteed though), 2. bigger department - more colleagues, probably easier to do projects with multi skilled team
- I am in a bigger school and solid financial situation of the school ( as it goes right to senior level)
- have been here for about 9 years so people know me very well, feel settled.
Please help me with your ideas and what do you think is MOST important that I need to concentrate on in this particular stage of my life
